The Baltimore Ravens have added former Pittsburgh Steelers slot cornerback Desmond King to their practice squad, the team confirmed. King visited Baltimore last week as part of a tryout group. Two weeks ago, the Houston Texans released him from their practice squad.
King had been the Texans’ starting slot cornerback for several seasons but was outperformed by Myles Bryant during training camp, leading to his release and later re-signing to the practice squad. He has appeared in just one game this season with Houston. A similar situation occurred last year when the Texans waived King after training camp, allowing the Steelers to claim him. However, King spent only five weeks with the Steelers, playing just one snap before being let go.
King returned to Houston, where he became the primary slot cornerback for most of the season, including in their playoff win against the Cleveland Browns. A product of Iowa, King spent the majority of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers as a starter. Now 29, King will look to contribute to a Ravens secondary that is dealing with the loss of slot cornerback Arthur Maulet due to a calf injury.
