Ethiopia’s,Muktar Edris a two-time 5000m world champion, will contest in the men’s elite field at the Delhi Half Marathon 2024 on Sunday, October 20.
The Delhi Half Marathon, a gold-standard World Athletics Label Road Race, which began in 2005, is set to be raced for a 19th edition.
Meanwhile, Edris will participate in the event for a third time. The 30-year-old Ethiopian runner debuted in the 2020 edition, finishing fourth with a time of 59:04. In 2022, Edris clocked 1:01:05 to take eighth place.
Edris boasts a personal best time of 58:40 in the half marathon, a race contested over 21.0975km as per World Athletics, achieved in Valencia, Spain, three years ago where he finished sixth. The personal best tops the charts among the elite field at the Delhi Half Marathon 2024.

In the women’s race, McColgan takes on a field including Kenya’s Cynthia Lima (66:04), Ethiopians Yalemget Yaregal (66:27) and Tiruye Mesfin (66:31) and Tanzania’s Magdalena Shauri (66:37).Edris, former two-time world 5000m champion, will renew his rivalry with Olympic 10,000m champion Joshua Cheptegei of Uganda in the men’s elite field in Delhi. Cheptegei clocked an Olympic record of 26:43.14 en route to the gold medal in the 10,000m race at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The 28-year-old runner also bagged the silver medal in the event at Tokyo 2020, where he raced to the 5000m Olympic title.
