Aston Villa is gearing up for a thrilling Carabao Cup match against Crystal Palace tonight, and they’ll be sporting unique Black Sabbath shirts to honor their celebrity fan, Ozzy Osbourne.
This collaboration with adidas features limited-edition shirts emblazoned with the band’s name, celebrating the iconic rock group’s ties to Birmingham.
Kickoff is set for 7:45 PM, and the Villa players will hope to harness the spirit of rock and roll as they take to the pitch. Osbourne, the legendary frontman of Black Sabbath, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “Purple and black have always been my favorite colors, and they’ve represented Black Sabbath for over 50 years. It’s a huge honor. UP THE VILLA!!”
Only 250 adult men’s shirts will be made available, each costing £120, with a limit of one shirt per customer. These shirts feature a special Black Sabbath patch and reflect the club’s strong connection to its local music heritage.
In addition to the shirts, a custom-designed Predator boot, created by artist Jordan Dawson, will pay homage to Osbourne. The boots, nicknamed “Preds of Darkness,” blend artistry and sport, although they will not be available for public purchase. Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martínez will wear them in an upcoming match.
Dawson shared his thoughts on the design, stating, “Hand-painting this design on one of adidas’ iconic boots allowed me to merge fine artistry, sport, and the spirit of heavy metal music.”
This initiative not only celebrates Ozzy Osbourne’s influence in music but also highlights a unique collaboration between sport and rock culture. The partnership was initially announced in a creative video featuring both Osbourne and Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler.
As fans look forward to the match, the club’s tribute to Osbourne serves as a reminder of the rich cultural history surrounding Aston Villa. It’s a celebration that unites music lovers and football fans alike as they rally behind the team.
For those interested in the special shirts, the Villa shop will be the place to grab one, but be quick, as these limited-edition items are expected to sell out fast.
The atmosphere at Villa Park promises to be electric, with supporters eager to witness their team embrace the spirit of Black Sabbath while striving for victory against Crystal Palace.
