John Clark, a highly regarded high school basketball prospect from Houston, Texas, has signed an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA) to play for The University of Texas next season, head coach Rodney Terry announced on Wednesday.
Clark, a 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward from Link Academy in Branson, Missouri, is ranked among the top 50 prospects nationally for the class of 2025. He holds the No. 37 spot in 247 Sports Composite rankings, No. 38 in On3, No. 40 in ESPN, No. 42 in Rivals, and No. 45 in 247 Sports. Clark previously played for Klein Cain High School in Klein, Texas, during his freshman through junior years.
“Clark combines finesse and power on the court, bringing the kind of versatility needed to succeed in the John SEC,” said Blue Zertuche, a recruiting analyst for Great American Shoot-Out. “He can score with a soft touch around the rim but isn’t shy about using his physicality when necessary. His skill set has grown steadily over the years, and competing against top-level athletes in the SEC will further refine his game.”
This past summer, Clark earned All-Adidas Performer recognition on the 2024 Adidas 3SSB circuit while playing for T.J. Ford Elite.
During his junior season in 2023-24, Clark averaged 17.8 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, shooting 61% from the field. He led Texas Class 6A in rebounds per game and double-doubles (22), helping Klein Cain reach the first round of the 2024 UIL Class 6A state tournament. He also earned a place on the All-Greater Houston Boys Basketball second team by the Houston Chronicle.
