JAKARTA Garmin introduced its newest luxury watch, the MARQ Adventurer of Damascus Steel Edition. This is the most expensive smartwatch model Garmin has ever launched.
Damascus is a unique steel material that is claimed to be resilient. The manufacturing process is also long enough that this device is sold for IDR 52,999 million. In addition, this latest watch model uses a sapphire lens shaped as a dome in the bezel section.
Garmin Indonesia Senior Marketing Communication Manager Chandrawidhi Desideriani explained that the process of making a watch made from Damascus Steel took up to 6 months. There are more than 50 manufacturing processes that must be passed.
“So, Damascus Steel, he went through more than 50 stages and took more than 6 months. So, the 3 months was needed for the initial processing of materials, manufacturing, then 3 months more for finishing,” Andra said on Thursday, February 6.
In addition to the long manufacturing process, its manufacture also requires a recurrent process. This watch is made based on 10 layers of steel that are stacked into one block, then forged to strengthen the design and create a unique pattern.
