Breaking News : Just In Andy Reid Announces The signing of Another Offensive Top Veteran.

The Chiefs are bringing in veteran offensive tackle D.J. Humphries, according to FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz.

Humphries was cleared to return to action on Friday after recovering from a torn ACL suffered in December 2023, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. His contract with the Chiefs is valued at $2 million, with a potential maximum of $4.5 million, which is a solid deal for a Week 12 signing following a major injury.

The Chiefs entered the season hoping that one of their two young offensive tackles would secure the job of protecting Patrick Mahomes’ blindside. However, both 2024 second-round pick Kingsley Suamataia and 2023 third-round pick Wanya Morris have had difficulties. Suamataia won the starting left tackle role in training camp, but was benched in Week 2 in favor of Morris, who has started every game since. Morris left the game in Week 10 due to injury, and Suamataia’s performance in relief was poor. Suamataia was subsequently inactive in Week 11, prompting the Chiefs to seek tackle help.
