Texas Basketball Signs Top-50 Recruit John Clark from Houston
AUSTIN, Texas Houston native John Clark, a highly ranked national high school prospect, has officially signed an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA) to play for the University of Texas, as announced by head coach Rodney Terry on Wednesday.
Clark, a 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward currently attending Link Academy in Branson, Missouri, is a consensus top-50 prospect for the class of 2025. He’s ranked No. 37 overall by 247 Sports Composite, No. 38 by On3, No. 40 by ESPN, No. 42 by Rivals, and No. 45 by 247 Sports. Clark spent his first three high school seasons at Klein Cain High School in Texas.
“John Clark offers a rare mix of finesse and power, along with the versatility needed to excel in the SEC,” noted Blue Zertuche, recruiting analyst with Great American Shoot-Out. “He’s skilled around the basket but also unafraid to use his strength, making him a promising fit in SEC competition.”
This past summer, Clark earned All-Adidas Performer honors on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, playing for T.J. Ford Elite. As a junior in 2023-24, he averaged 17.8 points and 13.1 rebounds per game with a 61-percent field goal rate. He led Texas’s Class 6A in rebounds per game and double-doubles (22) and guided Klein Cain to the first round of the 2024 UIL Class 6A state tournament, earning second-team All-Greater Houston Boys Basketball honors from the Houston Chronicle.
