Wearing a smartwatch won’t automatically make you a healthier person, but it can give you the stats you need to make meaningful lifestyle changes to improve your health. If your main reason for wearing a smartwatch is fitness, you should take advantage of a rare $50 discount on Garmin’s Forerunner 265. The large, long-lasting smartwatch was designed to make your health and exercise metrics accessible at a glance. This is the first time the Forerunner 265 has been on sale this year, and it’s a great time to pick one up if you plan on training outdoors during the summer.

One of the Forerunner 265’s best features is its design. It looks more like a traditional watch than an Apple Watch, which is good if you don’t feel comfortable drawing attention to a gadget on your wrist. Its 46mm square face is large enough to accommodate the time and other pieces of data without requiring you to quint. Physical buttons around the rim of the smartwatch allow you to navigate parts of its interface and start or stop run tracking. Garmin says the Forerunner 265 can last up to 13 days between charges, so you won’t have to worry about it running out of juice halfway through your workout if you exercise a couple of days in a row.

Sensors inside the Forerunner 265 allow it to track your calories, steps, sleep, and heart rate. It tabulates all of this information, including your HRV (Heart Rate Variability) to create a training readiness score. This score can help you determine whether your body is ready for a hard workout, or whether you should take a rest day. Your historical workout data can be found in Garmin’s Connect app on iOS and Android, so you can watch your exercise trends over time. The app also allows you to put together a customized workout plan if you’re training for a big race. You can also select one of several dedicated workout modes designed to track specific types of exercise before your workout to get the most accurate data on how many calories you burned.

Keeping track of all your workouts over time can be difficult, if not impossible, and Garmin’s Forerunner 265 will handle all of that automatically. You’ll still have to be the one to motivate yourself to work out, but this information can help guide you on your fitness journey.
