Latest News: Caitlin Clark’s Career Decision Gets Critical Update

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has reportedly decided not to participate in the inaugural season of Unrivaled, a new 3-on-3 league founded by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. The league also announced the players who will be on its six teams on Wednesday, with Clark obviously not included. It is worth noting, however, that there are still two wild-card spots open.

It is unclear what Unrivaled plans to do with the remaining available spots, but there’s reason to believe that it could pave the way for Clark to join this season should she change her mind. That possibility was further fueled by Ben Pickman of The Athletic, who shared a follow-up report on the Clark situation. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) and Indiana Fever guard Lexie Hull (10).

Apparently, Unrivaled is keeping its door open for Clark if she wants to play in the inaugural season of the league. “A source with knowledge of the situation tells The Athletic that the league still has an open invite out to Clark to participate this year,” Pickman reported. Pickman further explained that it “doesn’t mean she won’t end up sitting out,” but if Clark “happens to change her mind this year, or wants to play in future years, Unrivaled would seemingly still sign her.” It remains to be seen if Caitlin Clark will change her mind, but based on this latest report, it looks like Unrivaled is holding out hope that she does.

For what it’s worth, WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson also reportedly turned down an offer to join Unrivaled, according to Sports Business Journal. Regardless, the Unrivaled league won’t be short on talent, with the likes of Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier, Kelsey Plum, Jewell Loyd, Brittney Griner, Jackie Young and Angel Reese, among many others, participate.
