The Miami Hurricanes football program is already making headlines after securing Georgia quarterback Carson Beck through the transfer portal. Beck committed to Miami just a day after entering the portal, spurred by a significant NIL deal. His decision, though not surprising, is pivotal for the Hurricanes, especially with Cam Ward heading to the NFL.
Beck’s transfer also reunites him with his girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, a basketball player at Miami. While his arrival is a major boost, it might not yet elevate Miami into College Football Playoff contention. During Monday’s episode of “Dusty And Danny In The Morning,” Danny Kanell shared his thoughts, expressing concerns about Miami’s readiness.
“I have serious concerns about this,” Kanell stated. “They need to build a strong supporting cast around him, or it could mirror Florida State’s experience with DJU.”Â
Kanell’s worry is not about a mere two-win season but rather about Miami fans potentially expecting more than what Beck alone can deliver without a solid team. He highlighted Florida State’s struggles with DJ Uiagalelei, who was benched after five games in a disappointing 2-10 season following an undefeated 2023 and an ACC title.
Kanell doesn’t foresee a similar fate for Miami but stresses the importance of surrounding Beck with talent. Miami has already made notable additions, including LSU wide receiver CJ Daniels and Tulane tight end Alex Bauman. However, Kanell advises fans to temper their expectations until the roster is fully solidified.
