News Of The Hour : 4-times NBA All-Star Veteran Announces Retirement After Completing 16 Seasons

Paul Millsap, a four-time NBA All-Star forward, has announced his retirement from the league after 16 seasons, he shared with ESPN on Tuesday.

 

Millsap, 39, last played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season with the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets. Over the course of his career, he also played four seasons with the Denver Nuggets, four seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, and his first seven seasons with the Utah Jazz. The Louisiana Tech product was drafted by the Jazz in the second round (47th overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft. According to ESPN, Millsap retires as one of just eight players in NBA history to record 500 3-pointers, 1,000 steals, and 1,000 blocks. He earned all four of his All-Star selections during his time with the Hawks from 2013 to 2017 and finished fifth in Defensive Player of the Year voting in the 2016-17 season.

 

Over his 16-year career, Millsap averaged 13.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals, and one block in 28.1 minutes per game across 1,085 appearances, including 746 starts.
