News of the Hour : Raiders reveal surprising quarterback choice for Week 11

The Las Vegas Raiders have kept their quarterback situation uncertain, and they did so again on Wednesday.

Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce informed reporters that the team will continue with Gardner Minshew as their starting quarterback. Earlier in the week, there had been speculation that Desmond Ridder would take over for Week 11 after replacing Minshew during the second half of the team’s Week 9 loss to Cincinnati. With the bye week providing extra time to make a decision, the Raiders have decided to stick with Minshew, despite his 2-5 record as a starter this season and a troubling ratio of eight interceptions to just six touchdowns. There had been hopes that Ridder, signed off the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad on October 22, could offer a spark for the team.

With Aidan O’Connell sidelined indefinitely due to a hand injury, the Raiders are deciding between Minshew and Ridder. The team has lost five straight games and is headed to Miami to face the Dolphins in Week 11. While the Raiders insist they are not tanking, their playoff hopes seem increasingly slim.
