Sad news: DJI drone producer jasper -Ellen has banned today to produce DJI drones due to……

I’ve updated firmware, flown, got the notification there was more firmware to update after I’d flown, updated, flew again, got another notification for an update, and finally am resting a bit now after being in the cold for an hour. I didn’t fly an hour, but I was doing a crap ton of updating I wish had been all done at the start on the first update.

I had my first object collision while it was tracking me… the drone flew sideways into some very visible branches, fell about 5 meters and caught itself before slamming into the parking lot I was in and bouncing right back up. I can see no damage, which I’m pretty happy about as it has done some good obstacle avoidance in my playing with it. This tree was the notable exception. This was before the last firmware update I will note.

I’ve got the charging hub running off of my desk’s built in 2amp charger, the remote is charging off of a Qualcomm 3 power brick from many years ago, and there’s the XTAR battery charger being repurposed to charge the drone from the drone. So many things to charge.

One thing I did not count on was that it only had a couple of gig storage onboard and you needed a MicroSD card… I’ve got plenty at home, but yeah. Filled that up first.
